Is Car Camping in a Subaru worth it?

Ahhh, the real question we ponder. Why would anyone want to sleep inside a SUV when they have a perfectly good bed at home, or you could just snag a hotel room?

Here’s the deal; if you have tons of money and not enough time or ways to spend it, a hotel or a big RV will probably serve you great. For most of us though, the idea of adventure and travel is something we dream about daily and scheme on how we can go further with what we have. Dumping your savings of vacation time and dropping 6k going to Disneyland is some people's version of an epic adventure, but that's not us. We want to see more places, experience more sunsets, and not shell out a fortune.

A tent is what has been used for ages to protect people from the weather while existing in the outdoors. Backpacking tents are lightweight and can be setup in minutes. So why not just use a tent? Well, it’s just easier to sleep in the car. Barely any setup time, better wind and rain protection, better sound barrier and you can use the vehicles built-in heater to warm you up if things get chilly. All that and you can lock your doors at night for a little extra peace of mind. You can crawl in anywhere (almost), anytime and in any conditions to catch the rest you need for another day of trotting around in the mountains for weeks for nothing but the cost of fuel and food.

So yes, car camping is worth it. Save your money for burritos, brews, and some gas for your tank, and put that car to work. If you want to get crazy then build that badboy out with a sweet camper to make things even easier.
